Not Designed for People (NDfP)
This is the beginning of a multiple post series on examples of urban design that puts cars before people. In this case the people to be specific are the multitudes of pedestrians who have to cross a major highway and are forced to walk through quite a significant amount of water. This intersection in Syracuse, NY has 4-5x the state average in pedestrian accidents. It is the main entrance to Upstate University Hospital and it is hardly welcoming. Roadway design needs to be more cognizant of all users.
